The beauty of Ajanta paintings in India dating back to 2400 B.C.and the best way to preserve these treasures for eternity as indicated by the founders of Ajantahc online platform Vedan Choolun and Ashwin Srivastav

What draws you towards preservation of Murals through digitisation? Was the first question asked to Mr. Ashwin who expressed their innovative idea of reinventing the legendary Ajanta paintings of Tripitaka tales from Lord Buddha’s life.

Different manuscripts & ancient art forms contain an endless knowledge in the bosom of Indian history that needs to be brought before the world. Besides a nationalistic spirit for protecting our Indian Heritage that stood firm against the testing time was also key driving force to initiate the ambitious project of saving our cultural heritage and to sustain it for eternity. Bringing this before the present generation is a kind of elevation of human consciousness is something Mr. Ashwin Srivastav rightly feels. And also, a sense of duty that every responsible Indian citizen should adopt for allowing our present generation closely to observe the ancient Indian civilisation which is necessary for every conscious Indian to know today.

The most important parts are areas that need identification and fixation. So Mr Ashwin Srivastav elaborated the delicate technical perspectives like 1st step of image processing which demands High-resolution photographs. Previously the technology was not that advanced but today it is possible. Domain experts do the most restoration works, Common model of mathematical algorithm YOLO to view every pixel of Image parameter is a highly sophisticated method to carefully observe every angle of fabric or colour used by the ancient architects to carve out such eternal paintings. The images of the paintings if rightly observed gives a sense of insight to every Indian about his own identity, is what felt by Mr. Ashwin Srivastava and Mr. Vedan Choolun

The third and most important part is Reconstruction of spiritual aspect of such glorious paintings that depict the Buddha’s way of life and how it needs to be restored carefully.
Mr. Vedan Choolun states that amongst all major religions of the world- Hinduism, Sikhism, Jainism and Buddhism are gifted by India that inculcate the extraordinary way of leading one’s life. Our motherland is the birthplace of divine spiritual awakening.

All Asian countries have been under Influence of Hinduism in some or the other way like Indonesian opera still holds plays based on tales from Ramayana and Mahabharata. Despite being an Islamic country now, Indonesia still holds on to its ancient roots as a part of its culture. Mr. Vedan Choolun talks of how Indian origin people from different countries like Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica where 75000 Indians live, UK, Silicon Valley of USA, Guyana, Fiji etc. need to know the divinity of their original roots. Here, our Ajanta paintings team will speak to their Minister of Culture and reach out to all Indians globally and connect them to Mother India.

According to Mr. Srivastava, Digitisation of Murals 14 to 20,000 square inches and still going on. Light photography particularly important because caves are very dark and a very painting needs elaborate and clear view. Mr. BenoyBehlis the famous photographer who led the Ajanta Team to acquire spectacular and clean image of the worn-out paintings of Ajanta and Ellora Caves in Maharashtra.
Funding is borne by Mr. Vedan Choolun and Sapio Analytics themselves and they consider themselves self-dependant enough to bear the expenses of their research, yet participants are welcomed in case they wish to take part in the restoration works.

A plan to hold global exhibition in London’s museum where many people may be invited along with PM Boris Johnson, Ashwin says that in Mumbai (India) they plan to hold exhibitions along with ICCR whose centres like Nehru Centre for exhibition has been confirmed at several places like Mumbai and London. Mayank Chhaya suggests to the up with Art gallery of Chicago and merchandising of Ajanta that may encourage more people to delve with a deeper interest into the Ancient civilisation of the world.
